In short: Tasks turn your data into focused pieces of work for moderators, Quality Analysts and validators, each opening straight into the right items with the right actions.
Understanding Tasks
Tasks give your team a clear list of what to work on, instead of browsing thousands of items in Explore. Each task targets a specific set of images, posts, accounts or websites, and can be assigned to a person with a deadline.
When you start a task, Zeal opens Explore already filtered to that task's items, with the action buttons for that step of the workflow.
You'll find Tasks under Operations in Moderation, Review and Validation. Each space has two tabs:
Tasks: the tasks for that step, with your own tasks counted at the top.
All items: everything waiting at that step, whether or not it's in a task. Zeal filters it automatically, for example to unmoderated items in Moderation.

1. Types of task
There's a task type for each human step of the workflow. Each one picks up items from the step before and moves them one check mark forward.
Task | Who it's for | Targets | What they do | Result |
Moderation | Moderators | New, unlabelled items | Apply a label, such as Counterfeit, Phishing or Legitimate | One check mark |
Review | Quality Analysts | Moderated items | Correct wrong labels, then click Check or Check & Enforce | Two check marks |
Validation | Validators, such as brand managers or legal reviewers | Reviewed items | Give the final decision: Validate, Validate & Enforce, On Hold or No Action | Three check marks |
Example tasks
Daily sweep (Moderation): posts collected in the last 24 hours that mention your brand, shared across your moderators to clear genuine resellers and label infringements.
Impersonator check (Moderation): social media accounts created in the last week with your brand name in their handle.
New moderator audit (Review): every Counterfeit label a new moderator applied last week, to check they're following your brand guidelines.
Suspicious queue (Review): all items labelled Suspicious, for a senior Quality Analyst to settle as Legitimate or an infringement.
Weekly takedown approval (Validation): reviewed impersonation accounts for the brand manager to approve with Validate & Enforce every Friday.
Authorised reseller check (Validation): flagged items from one marketplace, so the client can make sure no newly authorised resellers were caught by mistake.
Note: Validation is optional. If your Program doesn't use it, reviewed items go straight to enforcement.

2. Creating a task
Create a task whenever there's a set of items you want a specific person or team to work through.
Go to Moderation, Review or Validation under Operations and click Create task.
Choose the task category: Moderation, Review or Validation.
Choose the dataset by setting filters, in the same way as saving a filter.
Add the task details: Name, Description, Deadline and Data Type (Images, Posts, Accounts or Websites).
Save the task. It appears in the Tasks tab of that space.
Tip: Keep tasks small and specific, such as one product, one marketplace or one week. They're quicker to finish and easier to track than one large task.

3. Reading the task list
The Tasks tab shows at a glance what's outstanding and what needs attention first.
Your tasks: how many tasks are assigned to you.
Remaining items: how many items are still waiting across all tasks, split by images, posts, websites and accounts.
Task cards: each task shows its name, data type, who it's assigned to, its deadline and how many items remain. A task shared across several Organisations shows how many it covers, and you can expand it to see each one.
Status: Ongoing task for tasks with no deadline, the due date for tasks on track, or a red days overdue label for tasks past their deadline.
View results: opens the task's items in Explore, ready to work on.
Use All tasks and By name at the top of the list to filter and sort the tasks.
4. Working outside tasks: All items
Use the All items tab when you want to work through the whole queue for a step, not just one task. Zeal filters it to the items waiting at that step: unmoderated items in Moderation, moderated items in Review and reviewed items in Validation.
