In short: A Moderation Task gives you a focused queue of unlabelled items to classify, first by labelling the images and then the whole post, one by one or in bulk.
Understanding Moderation Tasks
Moderation Tasks are your first line of defence. They give you a focused queue of unlabelled data to review and classify, so you always know what needs your attention next.
Who it's for: Analysts and clients who want to find and classify content.
The goal: classify items with an infringing or non-infringing label (for example, Counterfeit vs Legitimate).
The UI indicator: once moderated, the item receives its first check mark.
1. Create a Moderation Task
Set up a task to group the items that still need a label and assign them to the right person with a deadline.
Under Operations, go to Moderation → Create Task → Moderation.
Set your core filters: Moderation → Posts/Images/Accounts/Websites → Un-moderated, and Takedown Status → Post/Accounts/Websites → Up.
Give your task a description, due date, assignee, Organisation(s) and data type (posts, images, accounts or websites).

2. Moderate the items in a task
Moderation has two distinct steps: classifying the images, then classifying the overall post.
Start your moderation session
Go to Moderation → Tasks assigned to me → View Results.
Click the Play button to begin.
Step 1: Apply image labels
Review the images attached to the detection and select the label that best describes them. Common image labels:
Counterfeit: the image clearly shows a fake or infringing product.
Official Photo: the image appears to be a protected, brand-owned asset.
Suspicious: something looks off, but you need more context.
Tip: Select several images at once and apply a single label to all of them to save time.
Step 2: Apply a post label
After reviewing the images and the surrounding context (titles, descriptions), choose the label that best describes the entire post or listing. Your available labels are customised to your brand's specific enforcement criteria. Common post labels:
Irrelevant: the post has nothing to do with the brand.
Out of Scope: the post relates to the brand, but falls outside current enforcement guidelines.
Copyright Infringement: the post uses protected assets without authorisation.
Example: you might label the images as Official Photo, but label the post itself as Copyright Infringement because the seller is unauthorised.

3. Moderate in bulk
When many posts clearly need the same label, label them together instead of one by one.
Multi-select all the posts to moderate.
In the footer, click Select Label and choose the label to apply.
You can also click the Batch Update button in the footer and apply the chosen label to all selected posts. Here you can also add or edit tags, categories and post status.
Note: When moderating in bulk, you can apply only one label type to all selected listings at once.

4. Undo moderation
If a label was applied by mistake, you can return the post to the moderation queue.
To undo moderation, remove the assigned label from the post. This reverts it to the To moderate (un-moderated) status. Quality Analysts and Validators can also do this, since they have a higher level of permissions in Zeal.

5. What happens next
Moderation is the first step: here's how your label moves through the rest of the workflow.
Once you apply a post label, the page refreshes and the workflow status in the top-right corner updates to one check mark, showing the item has been moderated. The item then moves to the next stages:
QA Check (two check marks): a Quality Analyst verifies your label.
Validation (three check marks): the client gives final approval for enforcement.
Note: If you have the Validator role (for example, as a client), your actions skip the QA step automatically. As the final authority, the posts you label are marked as Validated (three check marks).
