In short: Zeal 2.0 deletes data automatically after a set period, depending on its status. Only recent, actioned data was migrated from ZERO and Talisman.
Understanding data migration and retention
If your brand was protected on ZERO or Talisman before, some of that historic data was migrated into Zeal 2.0 so your enforcement history carries on. This article explains exactly what was migrated from each platform.
Zeal 2.0 also applies retention rules to all data. How long an item is kept depends on what's happened to it: enforced data is kept longest, and data nobody has looked at is kept for the shortest time. Knowing these rules helps you keep what you need.
1. How long Zeal keeps your data
Check how long each type of data stays in Zeal before it's deleted.
Data category | What it covers | Kept for |
Enforced | Data linked to an enforcement decision: On Hold, Enforced, No Action with a previous enforcement, or Under Investigation | 7 years from the most recent enforcement action |
Moderated | Data that's been labelled but not enforced | 3 years from the last moderation |
Manually actioned | Data tagged manually, e.g. for analysis, monitoring or other non-enforcement work | 3 years from the last manual action |
Unmoderated | Data that hasn't been labelled or tagged | 100 days from when it was last detected |
Important: When a retention period ends, the data is fully deleted and can't be recovered.

2. What's changed from previous platforms
If you used ZERO, Talisman or Zeal 1.0, retention periods are now much longer for data you've acted on.
Zeal 2.0 status | Previous status | Previously kept for | Now kept for |
Unmoderated | Unchecked | 6 months | 100 days since last detected |
Manually actioned | N/A | 100 days | 3 years from the last action |
Moderated | Client / Partner Verification / Verification Complete | 1–2 months | 3 years from the last action |
Enforced | Enforcement in Progress / Listing Removed | 2 years | 7 years from the last enforcement action |
Tip: To keep an item for longer than 100 days, moderate or tag it. It then falls under the 3-year retention period.

3. What was migrated from ZERO
Check whether a historic ZERO record should be in Zeal 2.0.
What was migrated: domains, websites, social media listings and marketplace listings.
Which sub-tabs: Client Verify, Enforce, In Progress and Removed.
Migration conditions: an item was migrated if either of these was true:
its In Progress date was after 1 June 2024, or
it was in Enforce or Client Verify.

4. What was migrated from Talisman
Check whether a historic Talisman record should be in Zeal 2.0.
Which channels: Marketplaces, Social Media, App Stores, Paid Search, Social Media Adverts, 3D Printing, Messaging Apps and Domains.
Migration conditions: an item was migrated only if all three of these were true:
it was actioned,
its notice action type was copyright, trademark, design right, parallel import, patent or counterfeit, and
its action time or notice date was after 1 June 2024.

5. Custom policies and older data
Understand what happens if your retention setup differs from the standard, or your data predates the migration.
Standard policies: historic data follows the new Zeal 2.0 retention periods above.
Custom policies: your existing retention periods stay in place, with your data mapped to the matching Zeal 2.0 categories.
Older data: data that wasn't migrated is kept in storage, but you can't access it in Zeal 2.0.
Note: If you need data that wasn't migrated, such as items that were tagged but don't meet the conditions above, contact your Corsearch team.
