Video Detection

Catch infringements hidden in listing videos, with key frames saved as images you can moderate.

In short: Video Detection turns videos in listings into up to 5 screenshots, added to the post as regular images, so you can spot infringements without playing every video.

Understanding Video Detection

Video Detection automatically converts video content found in marketplace listings into image screenshots during ingestion. Analysts no longer need to play every video to detect infringements, which makes moderation faster and more effective.

It closes a common loophole: infringers often hide branded or counterfeit goods inside video content while keeping their static listing images generic, to avoid automated detection.

For example, a Shopee seller lists a "Premium Leather Bag". The 5 static images are unbranded, but the 10-second video shows the seller rotating the bag to reveal a luxury logo on the base. Without video processing, this infringement would go undetected unless an analyst watched the video. With Video Detection, Zeal automatically extracts a screenshot of that frame.

1. How it works

Zeal picks out the most useful frames for you, so each screenshot shows something new.

When a listing contains a video, Zeal processes it automatically during scraping:

  1. Frames are extracted from the video every 2 seconds.

  2. Each new frame is compared with the previously accepted screenshot using image similarity analysis.

  3. Frames that are visually similar to the previous one are skipped, to avoid duplicates.

  4. Only unique, representative frames are saved.

  5. The process stops when up to 5 screenshots are collected or the video ends.

These screenshots are then added as regular product images in the post in Zeal.

3. How to find video posts in Zeal

Filtering for video posts lets you focus on listings where infringements may be hidden in video.

  1. Go to Explore → Posts.

  2. Open the Content Type filter and select Video.

This shows all listings where video content has been crawled and screenshots extracted.

4. Moderating video posts

Video screenshots are moderated like any other image, and labelling them well can surface more infringements.

  • What you'll see: a post with video may show several screenshots extracted from the video alongside the regular product images.

  • Label images as usual: flag infringing screenshots as you would any other image.

  • Find related posts: moderating video-extracted screenshots as infringing may help surface other posts containing the same screenshots, similar to how image similarity works for static images.

Tip: Video content is usually considered high priority, so make sure these posts are reviewed and moderated daily.
